Free Advertising

Some of the best advertising for you company is free advertising. Although, paid advertising can be very effective it continues to cost your company money no matter how popular you company becomes.

The free adverstising that I am talking about is the kind that gives your company good report, and lets people know about who or what your company is or does. This type of adverstising consists of Ads, Links, Blogs, Search Engines, Forums, Articles, Affiliate Marketing.

What I mean by free ads is the fact that the is many websites out there are letting you post to them for free. Take Craigs List for example (from Now on I will refer to it as CL) they allow you to post an ad about something for sale in a specific metro area. CL has some sort of policy about Spam and if you post to the List and its spam a user will flag it. The more Spam happens on CL the less it actually gets flagged and the longer it ends up staying there. So, if you make an ad then post it to CL everyday, Sure... it might get removed everyday but you are driving people to your website on a regular basis. Of course there are other website out there that allow you to post for free to there Site, they are called FFA (free for all) networks. These FFA networks are getting so populated with stuff that some of the servers can barely keep up with the ads. So is this something good for your company? Well that depends on the FFA network you use. Newer ones with Captcha Codes (the little numbers/letters used for verification) are probably more efficient for you use.

Free Links are something like Link exchanges. This increases you Page Rank and increases your number of Refered Visitors. This is a Good thing no matter how you look at it, but if you add too many links in the same time period or month it can be considered a BLACK HAT technique and actually get you banned from the search engines. The the best way to go is slow and steady. Build your links a few a day. If you use a company called Link-Vault.com they have this process fully automated for you. All you do is add a simple PHP or ASP code to your website and they bring you links from other websites pages that have the same type of Page Rank. It may take a while or it may not.. depending on how you set up the Link exchange process. Personally I recommend letting it take a while, exchanging 1-2 links per day per html page. If you do this, please make sure that you are actually promoting certian parts of you site and not just the first landing page as specific searches are more SEO related.

Blogs are a great way to get free advertising. The best part about this is because blogs are generally such a High Page Rank and have many visitors on the site everyday. You want this, and you need to find a way to convert these users to your website then into sales. So you need to blog about things that are related to you website then make sure you give a Link to that HTML page. The more Posts you create on a specific subject the more possible readers you will recieve.

Search Engines although they dont sound free are actually a free form of advertising. Getting listed on google is as easy as have unique content that other sites may not have. As an example, if you site is about debt then you dont want your main keywords to be debt because that is such an over saturated phrase, you would want to cut that down to something like get control of debt, or be debt free. What that does it create a better more specific keyword search for you website, making you rank higher in the Rankings and giving you more free traffic. Do you need to submit your site to these Big Search Engines, NO! I say no because I have found that just getting your site reconized by putting links on other sites is a better more Specific way to get Ranked. It seems that the search engines look for sites based on ANCHOR text and if you submit it to the search engines you ANCHOR text is not present.

Forums are another great way of getting free advertising. Not because its a good thing to go out and spam them but because many forums are very helpful and very targeted. I'm sure if your selling Dog Food there is probably a forum about dogs on the internet that you can start up some conversations about. You dont need to tell people to go to your site you just need to put in your BIO line your website address. Of course putting you http link is going to drive more traffic to you site you might get your posts removed because you keep putting links in place. Forums are a great way to get advice about what your site is lacking or what might make it more user friendly.

Articles are a great source of referal traffic. As you create an article that a reader is interested in the reader is likely to click on the referal link at the bottom to learn more about the subject. Also this is considered a one way link. One way links are highly reconized by the search engines giving your site greater page rank in time. The best part about Article Sites is that there are so many of them and it doesn't matter where you submit your article. The more times you submit it the more times it is published and the more times you get direct one way links back to your website. Sometimes article sites don't let you post a live link on you article page. Sometimes your not even allow to add any html code. So many people ask why even post the article? The fact is as long as you put the web address in weather it actually creates a live link or not doesn't matter, search engines will still give you some ranking for that link.

Affiliate marketing techniques are very common among the internet, but how can you use them for free advertising. This doesn't work for everyone because not everyone is selling something of there own. What this type of advertising does is get others to advertise for you and you only loose a portion of the sale to commission. I like to ask everyone what they would do if someone else created there income stream and sold there products for them. Most of the time is just let it keep happening. Although you are loosing a portion of the sale to someone else you are not spending any money and you are still making money. For example, you are selling domain registrations, and each affiliate that refers you a sale gets a percentage of the sale say 25%. The Product costs you $5.00 and Costs the Consumer $10.00 so you make a profit of $2.50 and so does the affiliate, but you make the profit without lifting a finger. Now imagine that you sold ebooks that you wrote, there would be next to no expense on your part and It wouldn't matter what you paid the affiliate. Even if you paid the Affiliate 75% you will still make money and the affiliates will continue to be over joyed to push your product.
